Low Cost Spay/Neuter Services

Animal overpopulation is a significant problem. There simply aren’t enough homes or resources to properly care for the vast number of stray pets born each year. This problem can be easily avoided however, and in Alachua County there are plenty of options for pet owners looking to spay or neuter their pets on a budget. Remember, failing to spay or neuter even just one pet without the means to find each member of the litter a home is contributing greatly to this problem. Here are some options:




Operation PetSnip 

Located at Alachua County Humane Society (4205 NW 6th St, Suite A-2), Operation PetSnip's mission is to end needless euthanasia of companion animals through sterilization, education and community involvement. Operation PetSnip is open to anyone regardless of income or location.


Prices and Packages:

  • Spay or Neuter: $50
  • "Cat in A Box" Package: $120 (Includes Spay or Neuter, Pain Medication, Anesthesia, Rabies, Distemper and Leukemia Vaccinations, FeLV/FIV Test and Revolution)
  • Other Feline Vaccines and Services: Distemper (FVRCP) $15, Leukemia $15, Rabies (1year) $15, FeLV/FIV Test $20 Revolution $15 (fleas/worms)


  •  Spay or Neuter: $80
  • "Dog in a Crate" Package: $135 (Includes Spay or Neuter, Pain Medication, Anesthesia, Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella Vaccinations, Heartworm Test and E-collar)
  • Other Canine Vaccines and Services: Distemper/Parvo $15, Bordetella $15, Rabies (1year) $15, Heartworm Test $20, Frontline $15 (fleas/ticks), E-Collar $15

   Feral Cat Package:
  • Our Feral Cat Package is only $50 and includes spay or neuter surgery, Pain Medication, Anesthesia, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines and Ear Tip.

   Other Services:
  • Micrcochip: $25
  • Praziquantel (Strongid/Dewormer for round/hook worms): $15
  • Pyrantel (Droncit/Dewormer for tapeworm/fleas): $15
  • Nail Trim: $5
  • Ear Cleaning: $10


Pet cats and dogs must be healthy, be at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least 2 pounds. Dogs must be on a leash or secured in a hard plastic carrier. Cats must be secured in a hard plastic carrier. *Feral cats must be at least 3 pounds and be contained in a humane cat trap. If your pet is over 8 years of age, please call for special pre-operative evaluation instructions. Packages and other services are available. Please call for details. 


Clinic Hours:

We are now open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is at 7:30 AM and discharge is at 4:30 PM for dogs and 5:00 PM for cats.

We require a non-refundable deposit of the FULL surgery price ($50 or $80) to book an appointment. Deposits can be paid in person or over the phone. We accept cash, money order, visa and mastercard. We cannot accept checks, discover or american express.
